Eco-friendly and Green
“Children learn what they live…” This is the title and message of a poem in a children’s book by Dorothy Law Nolte. After all these years, this poem has always been proven to be true. Thus, to be able to develop a green world, it is essential to start making an environment friendly home. Through this, the best practices of thinking green and caring for the environment can be passed on to the future generations. Also, a child who has been molded to think about the environment will bring this kind of perspective until he grows old.
In making an environment friendly home, make sure to save energy whenever possible and that no energy is ever wasted. For closed homes, make all doors and windows air tight and install thermal insulated green curtains so that on winter season no warm air leaks out while on summer season no cool air leaks out of the house. Tell your kids to always make sure that all doors and windows are properly closed because air leaks can cause unnecessary energy consumption from your heater or air-conditioning unit. For open homes, make sure that you can full open your doors and windows to make proper ventilation circulate from outside to inside of your home. Install soft and light green curtains to provide a touch of privacy in your well-opened space.
Promote the use of recycled materials in your home and teach your kids the benefits of recycling things. Tell them that recycling is a good way of preserving the natural resources and reducing excess wastes.
